Zyoptix®
Taking LASIK to a whole new level, Zyoptix® is the very latest development in laser vision correction from Bausch and Lomb.
Much like your fingerprint, your eyes are also individually unique; with unique characteristics come unique visual flaws. Zyoptix® combines the Zywave and laser technologies to form a customized LASIK treatment that’s specifically designed to treat these microscopic visual errors. The result is a more precise treatment than conventional LASIK and outstanding visual acuity.
The Zyoptix® is designed specifically for the LASIK procedure, utilizing the innovative “dancing light” technology to provide world-class LASIK results.
Using a narrow 2 mm beam, the Zyoptix® literally dances across the cornea, with a rapid pulse pattern that quickly and safely achieves the desired correction. The beam then smoothes the corrected area into the rest of the cornea, giving it a more natural shape for better visual acuity. Plus, the Zyoptix® offers an extra-wide treatment zone, which reduces the potential for glare and halos during low light conditions or at night.

Chicago Cornea Consultants is pleased to introduce Advanced Control Eyetracking (ACE) for all of our LASIK patients. We are among the first practices to receive this upgrade. The new eye tracker presents many benefits to our patients and makes LASIK safer than ever before.
Eyetracking allows lasers used during LASIK surgery to compensate for eye movements during the procedure, thus adding an important level of assurance. However, no eyetracker has been able to adjust for subtle rotations of the eye that occur during the laser treatment – that is until now!
This new eyetracker locks on to the eye’s unique iris pattern just before the laser treatment begins, and then monitors the pattern throughout the procedure. When rotation of the iris is detected during the treatment the direction of the laser pulses is instantaneously adjusted accordingly. No other laser in the U.S. does this. This ensures that each laser pulse is delivered to its intended location on the cornea. ACE also adjusts for the pupil center shifting that can occur between light and dark settings, critical to the proper centering of customized LASIK treatments over the pupil.

VISX Star S4 IR™ Excimer Laser
Chicago Cornea Consultants is proud to also offer the VISX Star S4 IR™ Excimer Laser for LASIK vision correction procedures. The innovative ActiveTrak™ technology allows monitoring of eye movement in all three dimensions without pupil dilation, which means more precise control for the doctor and less stress for the patient.
Variable Spot Beam technology gives the doctor greater flexibility, with seven separate beams ranging from 0.65 to 6.5 millimeters in size providing faster, smoother treatment and highly accurate corneal shaping. Plus, VSS™ (Variable Spot Scanning) technology adds a blend zone that helps smooth the cornea, increasing the ablation (treatment) zone by 51 percent. This transition provides a gradual change from the treatment area to the non-treated corner, resulting in clearer, sharper vision, especially in low light conditions.
