Look Better Than Ever
Cosmetic Procedures Chicago
When the clients of Chicago Cornea Consultants, Ltd. complained of “crow’s feet” around their eyes, we responded by offering BOTOX® Cosmetic. BOTOX® Cosmetic allows our surgeons to temporarily alleviate wrinkles around the eye and forehead, creating a smoother and more appealing look.
An FDA-approved agent, BOTOX® Cosmetic can be injected beneath the skin to reduce certain eye muscle spasms, and is also effective in reducing facial frown lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic works by relaxing muscles for several months at a time, softening or eliminating facial frown lines between the eyes, on the forehead, and in the crows’ feet region on the outer side of each eye.
Each treatment usually lasts up to three months, and treatment can be repeated as necessary. You can continue to use BOTOX® Cosmetic as long as your body responds well to treatment and you do not have any allergic reactions. After your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment at Chicago Cornea Consultants, you may experience some temporary, minor discomfort at the injection site, but most patients report no side effects.
If you have any questions concerning BOTOX® Cosmetic or would like to schedule your appointment, we invite you to contact us at any of our 3 convenient locations (Chicago, Highland Park and Hoffman Estates) today.
With age, many people notice drooping of the upper eyelids. The eyes look smaller as the lids seem to close, making people look tired or sleepy. Stretched out eyelid skin can “hood” the eyes and obscure the peripheral vision, making it more difficult to read and see in the far distance. This is called “dermatochalasis.”
This age-related change, however, can easily be repaired with an procedure called “blepharoplasty” or eyelid contouring. With this safe, quick, outpatient surgery done under local anesthesia, the loose, baggy, excess stretched-out skin is removed and the lids resume a more normal appearance. Scarring is minimal and hidden in the normal eyelid crease. There is little “downtime” and after care.
Most importantly, because dermatochalasis can affect the peripheral vision and overall visual comfort, blepharoplasty can be considered a functional and not purely cosmetic procedure. Testing is performed in the office to document the effect of the eyelid skin on the vision. If a significant blockage of the top portion of the visual field is present, insurance carriers will cover the cost of the procedure for the upper lids.
Blepharoplasty may carry some risks, such as more significant scarring, asymmetry, or need for other eyelid lifting procedures later on. If you have any questions, think you may benefit from eyelid surgery, or would like to schedule your appointment, we invite you to contact the vision team at Chicago Cornea Consultants, Ltd. today.
Glaucoma is characterized by an increase of pressure within the eye. In its early stages, glaucoma is unlikely to result in any obvious symptoms. However, if the condition is left untreated, it can eventually lead to blindness. Early diagnosis is the key to treating glaucoma and preventing severe optic nerve damage. We offer both conservative and aggressive treatments to help patients in any stage of glaucoma to preserve their vision.
