LASIK eye surgery, or laser vision correction, can be a life-altering decision that can eliminate your dependence on glasses. Many of our patients can now swim, play golf, play basketball, perform their jobs and do all of their daily activities without the necessity of eye glasses or contact lenses. They have lives free from the hassles that come along with having to worry about glasses and contacts. Believe it or not, LASIK eye surgery is actually less expensive than the cost of glasses and contacts over a 10 year period. LASIK is safe, effective and has very few side effects. The procedure is relatively quick and painless. LASIK is not for everyone and does requires a screening process. The first step to getting better vision through laser vision correction is the schedule a pre-operative LASIK consultation to determine your candidacy for the procedure.
Laser Vision Correction Chicago
When patients are diagnosed with vision impairment, corrective lenses offer a simple solution that can restore clear vision. However, after years of depending on glasses or contact lenses, many patients find that they would prefer to depend on their own eyes. Chicago Cornea Consultants provides greater LASIK Laser vision correction to the greater Chicago area. We pride ourselves on providing the safest, most reliable LASIK surgery to all of Chicago and beyond, including Highland Park and Hoffman Estates, with long-term treatment for vision impairment. We are one of the few practices that uses the Bausch & Lomb Technolas® 217z Zyoptix® wavefront-guided system to reduce or eliminate patients' need for corrective eye wear. Blade-free Intralase LASIK, or iLASIK, is an advanced method of LASIK surgery that uses a laser instead of a keratome to access the inner layers of the cornea. This is a more precise technique that is safer for patients and less likely to result in surgical complications. The recovery period after iLasik is similar to that of LASIK. Although it may take a bit longer to fully recover good vision, the increased safety of the surgery outweighs the longer recovery time for many of our patients.
The LASIK procedure allows our doctors to make changes to the shape of a patient's cornea using a computer-controlled excimer laser. LASIK can treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. LASIK is a highly effective and safe procedure that has helped many of our patients enjoy clear, dependable vision.
Photorefractive keratectomy, also known as PRK, treats nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism by making alterations to the surface tissue of the cornea, rather than the underlying tissue. Patients whose corneas are too thin to undergo LASIK may be candidates for PRK.
The doctors at Chicago Cornea Consultants, Ltd. offer two of the worlds most advanced excimer lasers for LASIK vision correction: Zyoptix® and the VISX Star S4. In addition, Chicago Cornea Consultants, Ltd. utilizes the Intralase laser, Allegretto Wavelight, and more!
