The letters “FAAO” (Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry) after an optometrist’s, scientist’s or other qualified person’s name signify to colleagues and patients that rigorous qualifications for fellowship have been met. These include compiling original papers and publications, presenting at meetings, writing case reports, completing a residence, and teaching fellow practitioners. Additionally, a rigorous oral examination must be undertaken and passed at the national optometric association’s annual meeting. Only a portion of practicing optometrists have achieved Fellow status and all of Chicago Cornea Consultants™ congratulates Dr. Faron on this fantastic accomplishment. He continues the tradition of excellence and leadership that has been the hallmark of our practice for years.
