Chicago Cornea Consultants launches a new clinical trial of collagen cross linking (CXL) for keratoconus. CXL is a relatively non-invasive procedure that is being performed in virtually every country as a standard treatment for keratoconus. It has been shown to stop the progression of keratoconus. However, it is not a procedure approved in the United States. Drs. Majmudar and Epstein have been selected as one of eight sites throughout the USA and are actively enrolling patients for this study. If you or a loved one has keratoconus, this treatment may be appropriate. CXL may help slow down or even stop the progression of keratoconus, and may possibly even prevent the need for a corneal transplant. For more information, please contact Jim Nykaza at 847.882.5900.

The same Phakic implant procedure that Chicago Cornea Consultants has performed on its patients for years was featured on FOX news and NBC’s Today show. This reversible procedure is especially popular amongst those who are NOT good LASIK candidates. Mainly those who cannot have LASIK because of their high level of nearsightedness, thin corneas, or a combination of both. To view the FOX report in its entirety click here.
You can view Visian ICL procedure on NBC’s Toady Show! Please click the links to view the before and after surgery reports.
