October-November 2007
At the 2007 International Society of Refractive Surgeries meeting in New Orleans, Dr. Randy Epstein gave a lecture entitled “Current Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Anterior Chamber Epithelial Ingrowth”. At the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology he participated as a lab instructor in the course “Management of Astigmatism with Cataract Surgery” and was a co-author of a paper entitled “Mitomycin-C for the Prevention of Corneal Haze Following PRK”.

Dr Dennis was co-author of “The Effect of Mitomycin-C on the Corneal Endothelium When Used for Corneal Haze Prophylaxis Following Photorefractive Keratectomy”, Journal of Refractive Surgery, Vol 23, pp 724-727, September, 2007
Dr Dennis was an invited instructor for the “Astigmatism Correction” course at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, New Orleans, November 2007.
Dr Dennis was the recipient of a second “Golden Apple” award for excellence in teaching, Department of Ophthalmology, June, 2007.

Dr. Parag Majmudar was involved in the following professional activities:
- Dr. Majmudar was a coauthor with Dr. Goldsberry and Dr. Epstein on their paper “Effect of Mitomycin C on the Corneal Endothelium When Used for Corneal Subepithelial Haze Prophylaxis Following Photorefractive Keratectomy” published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in September 2007.
- Dr. Majmudar and Dr. Goldsberry wrote an article that appeared in Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today in October 2007 entitled “The Ocular MD Online Calculator.”
- Dr. Majmudar was Selected as the U.S. Representative for the International Council Steering Committee, International Society of Refractive Surgery – American Academy of Ophthalmology (ISRS/AAO), November 2007.
- Dr. Majmudar was an invited instructor for the Lasik Course Wetlab at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting, New Orleans, November 2007
- Dr. Majmudar was an Invited Lecturer at the “Optimizing Outcomes in Surface Ablation” Course at the American Academy ofOphthalmology Annual Meeting, New Orleans, November 2007
- Dr. Majmudar was a coauthor on the paper “Reduced Application Time for Prophylactic Mitomycin-C in High Risk Surface Ablation,” presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, New Orleans, November, 2007.
- Dr. Majmudar was the Co-Moderator of the Refractive Surgery Free Paper Session, American Academy of Ophthalmology, New Orleans, November, 2007.
- Dr. Majmudar was the Co-Moderator of the “Around the World in 80 Minutes Invited Paper Session” at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, New Orleans, November, 2007.
- Dr. Majmudar was a co-author for the lecture given by Dr. Epstein “Current Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Anterior Chamber Epithelial Ingrowth” at the AAO/ISRS Subspecialty Day, New Orleans
- Dr. Majmudar gave a lecture in Detroit, MI regarding “Incorporating Presbyopic IOLs into your practice”, October 17, 2007.
- Dr. Majmudar gave a lecture in Indianapolis, IN regarding “Bacterial Infections of the External Eye”, October 30, 2007.
- Dr. Majmudar will be traveling to India in December 2007, where he is scheduled to give 2 presentations regarding “Femtosecond Technology and Refractive IOLs”,at the Ahmedabad Ophthalmic Society, December 21, 2007. and also in Mumbai on December 29, 2007. While there, he plans to serve his fellow man on a humanitarian cataract surgery mission in the village of Dholka in Gujarat.

Chicago Cornea Consultants doctors have been very active, recently, in a number of national medical education activities. In October, Dr. Malooley gave a lecture entitled
“Prosthetic Contact Lenses: changing the way our patients see and the way we see them” at the American Academy of Optometry meeting in Tampa, FL. This lecture discussed the fitting process involved in tinted, therapeutic contact lenses.
