At Chicago Cornea Consultants™, we do more than just treat vision impairment. We offer comprehensive eye care services in multiple offices throughout the Chicago area including Highland Park and Hoffman Estates. Cornea and external disease examinations allow us to diagnose and monitor conditions such as dry eyes and keratoconus so that appropriate treatment can be administered. It is our goal to provide each patient with quality care using the most advanced technology and treatments. Contact us today in Chicago, Highland Park or Hoffman Estates to learn more.
Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL)
CXL, or corneal cross-linking, is a treatment used on patients with keratoconus. Keratoconus causes the cornea to become a cone-shape. This can cause extremely blurry vision and may eventually require a corneal transplant. Corneal cross-linking has been shown to help slow the progression of this disease and possibly eliminate the need for a corneal transplant.
Dry Eyes
Dry eye syndrome is a condition that can be extremely uncomfortable and can make it difficult to perform even the most basic tasks such as reading, working on a computer, or watching TV. This condition is usually caused by a lack of lipids (oil) in the eye. This is often the result of a blocked or dysfunctional gland. We offer LipiFlow®, an advanced treatment that uses thermal pulsation technology to relieve gland blockage and dry eye symptoms.
Corneal Transplant Surgery
Endothelial keratoplasty is more commonly referred to as a corneal transplant. However, unlike a traditional cornea transplant, endothelial keratoplasty involves the removal of only the inner, endothelial layer of the cornea. It can be used to treat conditions such as Fuchs’ corneal dystrophy, corneal edema, or failed corneal transplants.
