Dr. Epstein and Dr. Majmuda Named in the PS250 List

Our entire team works diligently and tirelessly to ensure that our patients get the best possible care that we can provide. Our patients recognize this, of course, and many refer friends and realtives to us when seeking out a skilled Chicago cornea surgeon or eye care specialist. They know that we are constantly striving to maintain the highest levels of excellence.

It may be this commitment that we show people day in and day out that has led to such great industry recognition. We are very proud to announce that our own Dr. Randy J. Epstein and Dr. Parag A. Majmudar have been listed as innovators in the field of premium IOL implant surgery by Premier Surgeon magazine. It is an honor for two members of the team to have made the PS250 list.

What This P250 List Distinction Means

The editors and publishers of Premier Surgeon created the PS250 list in order to call attention to people who are at the forefront of IOL surgery. We have demonstrated a true commitment to both Crystalens&™ implantable contact lenses (ICLs) as well as phakic intraocular contact lenses (IOLs) in the practice, which explains this great recognition. Dr. Epstein and Dr. Majmudar are two of 14 surgeons in the state of Illinois who made the list.

Being an innovator is a vague term. More specifically, being part of the PS250 list means the following according to SLACK Incorporated Senior Vice-President Joan-Marie Stiglich:

Providing instruction and education about premium IOLs to colleagues and peers while at industry meetings
Conducting research and studies in order to optimize patients clinical results
Deeply engaging with existing diagnostic techniques and technologies in order to tailor the treatment to the patient
Considering the various business aspects of premium IOL surgery
Being an early adopter of the latest technologies related to IOLs

A History of Accolades and Excellence

All of our optometrists and ophthalmologists exhibit high standards of dedication and care. The PS250 list is just the latest in a history of excellence for our team.

For example, Dr. Epstein has previously been recognized by Chicago Magazine as one of the area’s top doctors and was the recipient of a Senior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Majmudar has received an Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well. Other members of the team have similarly been recognized by peers, colleagues, and organizations.

Yet even though we are pleased with this recognition, what matters most to us is you, the patient, and your wellness. These accolades mean nothing if we cannot meet your needs first.

Traditionally, presbyopia, which happens to all of us as we age, has always meant glasses for clear reading vision. It's a condition not even correctable by laser vision correction. Luckily, there is an option. Refractive lens exchange allows patients a clear alternative to reading glasses and is capable of reducing or eliminating presbyopia by using an advanced multifocal intraocular lens.

Keratoconus describes a cornea that weakens as collagen fibers deteriorate, causing the cornea to adapt a cone-like shape. Keratoconus can cause blurred vision, light sensitivity, glares, and decreased night vision. In its early stages, keratoconus may be treated with the use of prescription glasses or contact lenses. Keratoconus is also one of the most common reasons for corneal transplant, and one of the most successful. It's estimated that a million or more Americans have glaucoma and don't even know it. People with glaucoma often do not experience any symptoms until they begin losing their peripheral vision. One of the scariest things about glaucoma is that it usually has no symptoms in the early stages, earning glaucoma the name "silent thief of sight." Anyone can be at risk, so it's important to have your vision regularly examined.
