Using this precise digital map, we will be able to detect both lower order aberrations (refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism) as well as higher order aberrations (visual imperfections such as glare, halos, poor night vision, and poor light sensitivity). This digital map is inputted into a computer and used to guide the laser during the iLASIK surgery procedure.
All-Laser, Bladeless Intralase LASIK
Our Chicago LASIK surgery team also offers LASIK surgery performed entirely with lasers. In traditional LASIK surgery, the corneal flap was created using a microkeratome. With all-laser LASIK, the corneal flap is made with an ultra-precise laser.
The iLASIK Surgical Process
iLASIK surgery is similar to traditional LASIK surgery. During iLASIK surgery, the corneal flap is created by the surgical laser, allowing our surgeons to access the cornea. Using the digital scan of the corneal surface, the cornea is then precisely reshaped as needed. The corneal flap is then set back in place so that it can heal.
